The going down of the sun in Gaythorne

Over the years we've had some memorable Anzac day runs. Remember the Mt Nebo one when Eweshggr had put up signs naming sections of the trail - "Hellfire Pass", "River Kwai", "Kokoda Track" etc? Remember Jamesbondage chalking a "Two up" circle on the ground and calling "Come in, spinner?" Remember the Anzac Day lockdown in 2020 - when Trudi Fruti played The Last Post on her horn for the benefit of her neighbours, when we had to walk and run in household groups, and when we were meeting via Zoom?

This year a lot of people are away so we kept things simple by setting out from  the Gaythorne RSL and returning there for drinks and a reasonable meal...and the 6 pm Remembrance ceremony. It made a lot of sense for us to sign up as members ($1 fee for a membership till 2099) and an unexpected benefit was that two people with birthdays in April scored ice-cream cakes for us to share!

Here are a few shots of the event courtesy of Floater and Cash Converta:

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world...Eweshggr and Flaps Down are on their way west and north to Cape York. The large group of Hash travelers who headed south some weeks back are now wending their way home, and they will be joined by a few more hashers for the final stage of their journey. They report that they completed an 11 km Hash trail in Sydney this last Sunday, taking in the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and Government House. Payback and Jamesbondage look very much at home at the latter....
