Birthday girls' brilliant bushland bash

Birthday girls YShgger and Strine put their heads together to lay on a wonderfully scenic tour of the Raven Street and Chermside Hills reserves this Sunday. The vegetation was verdant and the orchids were in bloom (luckily Eweshgger hadn't harvested them all)...and the group of 30 humans and 4 canines had a memorable run and walk.

A celebratory meal of champagne, make-your-own corned beef sandwiches, Real Men's Quiche and birthday strudel followed.

Here's most of the colorful crowd (thanks to Topless for the photography)...Where's Hardcore?

To signal our love, thanks and affection we awarded the Birthday Girls a special down-down!

This was followed by a naming ceremony for the Shggrs' granddaughter - hereafter to be know as Poledancer. (Her grandfather can reveal the significance of this name. My lips are sealed....)

And Hardcore - engaged last week - celebrated a birthday this week with another champagne down-down.

The two birthday hares are helped to extinguish the birthday cake (birthday girl Hardcore in the background)...

It's Hash Christmas this Friday...just a few more sleeps!

Off the market

Big news this last Sunday was that one of our hares - Hardcore - has just got engaged and plans to be running up to the altar in 2012. Good on her!

She, Urass and Bigtop laid on a well-chalked jaunt (with plenty of checks) around the hillier bits of Stafford Heights. There was lots to look at in the piles of unwanted items the locals had put out for a kerbside cleanup and we found some great things for Hardcore's glory box amongst them - things she doesn't have already. For instance, she already has a working TV, so we found her a non-working one...and she was very excited about that! Other hashers just made a note of items to collect later and put in storage for wedding gifts.

After some toothsome lasagna and salad we celebrated Chinwag and Shockjock's birthdays, and the party then degenerated into a sickening Yogafest. WARNING: the following shots of yoga positions may distress some viewers -

Hash Christmas plans are well underway. It should be a great night! And looking ahead a little further, the 5th December run will be a Sunshine Coast one from Miss Demeanour and Shockjock's holiday home...mark your diaries!

A Backward Hare

Our hare for the first of the summertime runs changed his mind at the last minute and had the group do the run in reverse...which made for some interesting checks, but which also meant the creek crossing was performed in daylight. It was described as a "pretty" run with some very gentle grades. The Shggrs said this was a nice change after the slopes they'd been tackling in Nepal.

Leave Pass has been playing in the "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch in a local dramatic entertainment, and he performed it (all four parts) for the edification of the circle. There was also some interesting discussion on how to identify a mammal....

The theme for Hash Christmas has now been decided - it's to be "Shipwreck". Come attired as you were when the ship went down, and be prepared to explain this attire. What were you doing at the time? Eh? Eh?

Of course some may choose to come as Captain Pugwash, or as mythical members of his crew - Seaman Staines, Master Bates, Ben Dover or Roger the cabin boy....

The date is Friday 26th November, and the place is B&W amd Trudi Fruti's new hilltop hideaway at Mt Nebo. Be there!

In the meantime...

When: Sunday 14th November, 5 pm

A whiz of a Wiz (and his apprentice)

The Hash circle became a Magic circle this Halloween, as Wizbanger and his apprentice Slammit Treated us to some stunning Tricks. The disappearing (and reappearing) handkerchief and the vanishing knot were especial favourites.

A well-hung ghost:

...who made an even more terrifying appearance later as The Creature from the Blue Lagoon:
