Trails in all directions

Radar called just before the run on Sunday to warn us that a couple of hares from Thirsty Hash had been setting their trail early and had come across our markings. When we got to Wilston we found arrows leading in all directions - but at least the Thirsty ones were double-headed:

We dealt with the confusion pretty well after the first few minutes and no-one got lost (except intentionally.) And the rain predicted on Thursday should wash out all arrows completely and so remove the confusion for the Thirsty hashers....

Our trail took us to somewhere unfamiliar - the top of Eildon Hill. What a view of the city!

There were a few (optional) challenges on the route down and they took their toll:

A tasty navy-type meal of rice and "navy bean stew" followed. Thanks, hares!

It was great to have Hardcore with us (she's been working Sundays this year), plus the prettiest hasher of them all. Eloise thought the tan bark in the playground was just as tasty as the rice:

An impressive hashback:

Our next run is a Mayday parade, so bring your hammers, sickles and ICBMs.

Stepping up

The area is not called The Hills District for nothing! The first flight of stairs soon after the start this Sunday offered a foretaste of what was to come, and got our hearts vigorously kick-started. And we were all surprised by how many stairs there are in the locality!

Our hares set a varied and well-marked trail, taking in burbs and bush, and downhills as well as ups. They followed this up with some tasty and filling nosh. Here are some of the 30 or so humans in the group (there were a few canines as well) feeding their faces:

Many thanks to Floater and Scratchit!

Next weekend we'll be celebrating Australia's participation in The Great War, so it's appropriate that we should be meeting at Bert Hinkler Park in Wilston. Hinkler served as both pilot and gunner in the pioneering days of aerial warfare. No need to BYO plane (or gun) on Sunday, but our hares have asked that we bring some chairs....

Finally - Eweshggr has donated a colourful collection of Hash shirts from around the world. We'll be selling these off over the next few weeks, with proceeds to go to the homeless women's shelter that Culture has been helping raise funds for - and that hashers have already contributed to significantly. It's a great cause, and it's also your chance to snap up some classic designs!

Green hills far away

It's true - despite what Le W*nk says - there are some hills in Dayboro, even though you might have to use a dumpy level to find them. It was a beautiful afternoon for a autumnal rural run, and the green hills looked lovely in the late afternoon light. The well-marked trail took us up and down several of them....

One of those famous Dayboro sunsets followed. Are you ready? All together - Ahhhhhh....

And again, a few moments later - Ahhhhhh....

Part of the group, ignoring the sunset and concentrating on the beer:

And Le W*nk, behaving like - well, like Le W*nk:

Eggceedingly pleasing Easter turn-out!

A lot of people go away over the Easter weekend, so it was eggstremely eggciting to have 25 turn up for this year's Easter Egg run!

Conditions were clear and pleasant - if a trifle muddy - for the first of our 4 pm meets. However the eggs hidden along the trail did suffer a little from the heat (30 degrees in Brisbane) and attempts to carry them home produced some pretty squishy results....

The Samford Lions donated some leftover sausages from their sizzle across the road and Kermit and Floater both donated some desserts. Thanks to them all!

A trip out to the green hills of Dayboro (hush! - there are no hills in Dayboro) is on the agenda for next week.
