Pounding towards the year's end

There are only 4 Sundays to go before the year ends - and one of those is Christmas Day! So the Big Christmas Events are upon us - Hash Christmas this coming Friday at Mile High and Hugandkiss's, and the Red Dress Run on the 12th December....

Thirty-something humans and innumerable dogs gathered this last Sunday to trot around the Eaton's Hill area and thereafter discuss the Serious Issues of the Day....

The Grand Old Duke of York

marched 10000 men to the top of a hill and marched them down again. (This actually sounds much more sensible than many of the activities that military commanders dream up for their troops.) Anyway, this Sunday's excursion was a bit of a Duke of York affair - up and down.... The walk included a bit of uphill bush-bashing, while the runners (and bikers) tackled one of the steepest tracks in the Samford Valley.

The group of some 30 plus gathered thereafter at John Scott Park. It was good to welcome some new/old faces and to see Shaggy back on his pins after a stint in hospital.

Haughty's new shoes received a rather blurry baptism:

Reminders: Hash Christmas is less than 2 weeks off on Friday the 2nd of December (please RSVP), and the Red Dress Run is on Monday 12th December (Plough Inn, Southbank.)

You'd think it would be warm enough already....

Given the weather recently (and 2016 is shaping up to be the hottest year on record) a house cooling might have been more appropriate than a house warming. But we're a traditional lot, so a warming it was for new mortgage-slave Le W*nk!

A traditional downpour had cleaned up the trail markings, so it was a case of pick-a-path along Kedron Brook for both runners and walkers. Back at the new old house Le W*nk explained his renovation plans while an almost-super moon rose over the verandah.

Lasagna and house-warming cake followed. Thanks to our mortgaged hare!

It was good to welcome back Charcoal, Strine and Eweshggr from their epic 3 month, 15000 km roadtrip.

You'll find a large selection of their photos here. Just a few now from their trip home...

Whyalla - not wiped out:

Sunset camp:

Where could this be?

It was good to catch up with B & W and Fruti this week. Let's hope we see a bit more of them now that they have joined Le W*nk as residents of Mitchelton....

And our best wishes to Shaggy and Cadbury. Get well soon!

Budgie and Miss Behavin's First Time

Our Virgin Hares did themselves (and us) proud with their first run through the Murrumba Downs area. They set an interesting, varied and well-marked (please pay attention, Miss Demeanour) trail that took us through the burbs and along the banks of the Pine River. We met some black swans, ducks and turtles. And we finished up with a great meal and a search party (nothing like a party, is there?) Many thanks and congratulations to them!

Here are a few commemorative pics (thanks to Tinkerbell for the photography).

And here is a spooky shot from last week's Halloween Run (thanks to Floater for this one)

Next week we've got a Housewarming Run, courtesy of Le W*nk. The ink on the mortgage is barely dry, but he's already started the renovations! Will he allow us upstairs to check them out?

Finally, our WA travelers are well on their way home - may even be home by the time you read this. Here are a few shots from some of the beaches south of Esperance, and of their expedition up Frenchman's Peak. You'll find more pictures here.
