Aussie, Aussie, Auswald

created confusion this last weekend.  First we postponed till Monday.  Then further rain and power cuts made it impossible for our hares to host.  So in the end just 2 runners and 2 walkers headed out for a trot around Cashmere.

Here they are, showing the flag at the tiny on, on for Auswald's Day 2013:

And this coming Sunday we will finally tackle the run our keen hares had planned.....

We don't cancel runs for any reason. but because of the wild weather and dire predictions - and because tomorrow (Monday) is a public holiday - we have decided to postpone Bigtop, Urass and Hardcore's run for a day.  So here's the update:

Oi, oi, oi again

This Sunday saw another village fun run, with Le W*nk taking the runners on a scouting expedition, and Eweshggr misleading the walkers.  According to Le W*nk it was "a good run - no, a Great run!"

Meanwhile a number of other runners and walkers were showing off their talents (?) in the 2013 Samford panto.  Here are a few shots:

Les Girls (recognise that red dress?):

Milkmaids and dodgy looking animal (Quote: "Is that a cow?"):

Check out the legs!

Chatting up Mr Wolf:

Granny Hood off to Bingo past the pineapple tree:

You have another chance to dress up this weekend for our annual Oz Day celebration of all things Okker.  Bogans are welcome - and we'll have some thong-tossing and vegemite wrestling as well as the traditional sing-song.  You can check out the last few years' events here, here and here.

A hot date with Brook

The runners were incredulous as Le W*nk pointed out the way home from the final Hold check:  "We're going where?!!?"  But he would brook (get it?) no opposition.  The route up the bed of Kedron Brook was a bit reminiscent of some the runs we did in Borneo.  But as Payback said, Borneo didn't smell so bad....We noted a couple of live snakes, a dead pheasant coucal, lots of dead shopping trolleys and some fish with two heads.  Luckily our hare had warned us to wear old shoes...he should also have warned us that our shoes would disintegrate en route.

The walkers completed a longish but much more staid excursion.

All this was followed up by some home made lasagna, salad and birthday cake.  Happy birthday, Payback!

Next Sunday some of our number will be making fools of themselves on the pantomime stage, while a couple of others will be away in Tamworth for the festival.  The run for those able to make it will be another village potluck one (we've had a couple of these recently - as we often do over the holiday season - but they're always enjoyable.)

And don't forget our annual celebration of all things Australian on the following (Oz Day) weekend.  We'll be looking for costumes featuring blue singlets, beer bellies and bumcracks - and for some serious competition in the thong throwing and vegemite wrestling contests.

Finally, here's one for the kiddies:
Q.  What has four legs and an arm?
A.  A very happy Rottweiler.

Next run details
When: Sunday 20th January, 5 pm
Where: John Scott Park, the village
Hares: M. Promptu will set the run; Potluck will cater (please bring something to share)

Hash vintage - vintage Hash

Our hares laid on a classic Clear Mountain run this Sunday - which means that we were alternately plunging into steep gullies and struggling out of them.  A new sinuous path through some native pea bushes made for an interesting diversion.  The runners' route home included some 2.5 km along Clear Mountain Road - and Hardcore had to wait about half an hour at the end of it for the rest of us to catch up.  Too much Christmas pud....

Back at the on, on we were treated to some classy marinara pasta and salad followed by stollen.  And we all had a chance to sample the 2012 Hash vintage - created back in January last year.  The general consensus?  It wasn't at all bad - especially for a first attempt!

Le W*nk has warned runners to bring a towel to next week's event.  It sounds as though we may be spending some time in Kedron Brook, while the walkers may be Targeting Brookside....

Next run details
When: Sunday 13th January, 5 pm
Where: Le W*nk's waterside residence in Mitchelton
