Wednesday is the new Sunday

Due to Boxing day commitments, we had our 1028th run on Wednesday 29 December. Runners Shock Jock, Payback and Darcy headed towards Echidna Corner and checked out the creek crossings on the way. A lot of water has flowed through in the last few days and it was still flowing at a great rate of knots.

Afterwards, Samford Pub beckoned and they (except Darcy) settled down to a few well earned ales. Cashconverta, still carrying her Borneo injury, turned up later for a Chardonnay or two. How much longer can she use the old Borneo excuse?

Rain, rain go away

It rained cats and dogs at Redcliffe on Sunday, but that didn't deter the hardiest of Samford Hash. It was so wet that the paths turned into rivers and in some places it was hard to tell where the land stopped and the sea began.

A sodden bunch turned up at Topless's cottage and demanded that she go out into the driving rain to buy some gourmet pizzas. Meanwhile, they were happy to guzzle beer, sip on a selection of fine wines and contemplate what was for dessert. Topless finally returned and a good night was had by all.

Next Sunday is Boxing day and the Samford Hashers have other things to do. So there won't be a run on that day.

Have a merry Christmas and take it easy.

I see red

After a vote the intrepid hashers opted to take the more arduous bush route rather than pound the bitumen. They encountered wet tracks, steep gullies and swift flowing streams, but this did not deter them. Back at Strine and Charcoal's place they were treated to a barbecue and some stayed on for Strine's latest production - Trekking in Nepal.

Haughty and Culture left for South Africa that morning. Culture's backpack was so huge that she would put any Nepalese porter to shame.

On Monday a few of us completed the Red Dress run. Whizbanger's dress was simply stunning, which made Payback look a bit frumpy. Payback later remarked that his dress was functional and it didn't make him look like a tart - meow. The highlight of the event was carol singing at parliament house and an address by the Honourable Speaker of the House, who mentioned that we were much more intelligent looking than the bunch he dealt with during the day.

Down by the seaside

The Samford Hash tsunami hit Kings Beach last Sunday. It didn't cause much damage but was very loud.

The run/walk along the coastline made a pleasant change and luckily the rain held off. Shockjock and Payback ran up to Dicky Beach and even had time for a stroll on the beach and a quick paddle. How romantic.

Afterwards, about twenty souls crammed into Shock Jock's and Miss Demeanour's unit and devoured all that was on offer.

Next Sunday will be a bit different. It will involve lots of trees.
