Lake District Tour

Budgie, Miss Behavin' and Nipper set a trail that circled no less than four of the lakes in their local district. Walkers and runners enjoyed some birdwatching along the way, while an infestation of Salvinia molesta provided another talking point. Recent temperatures haven't been good for the Salvinia weevils, but no doubt they'll be chewing their way through the lawn-like mat once the weather warms up. Other interesting features of the route included some architecture to gawp at in wonder, and a broad stretch of the North Pine River to survey. Here are some of Snappy's shots from the walk:

Back at the hares' we tucked into some top tucker, finishing off with ice-cream, strawberries and chocolate sauce. What a great way to replenish lost calories! And many, many thanks to our hares!

Earlier in the week, a number of hashers took delight in knocking Haughty for six with a thoroughly surprising surprise party to commemorate his 70th birthday. For once in his life he was lost for words....A really memorable occasion! He'd like to thank all who were there. Here are a few of Snappy's snaps from the evening:

Eaton Feast

It's been a little while since we met at Eatons Hill (note: there really are no pesky apostrophes in this suburb's name; or - if you prefer - there are no pesky apostrophe's in this suburbs' name). Eagle-eyed Culture noted the changes in the impressive tree-house the walkers passed. Here it is in 2020:

And in 2022:

Spot the differences....

What really doesn't change is the quality and the quantity of the feast that Cash Converta lays on. This time there was some great lasagna, a vegetarian bake, and an impressive salad. Thanks to the chef!

Payback set a well-marked(?) trail, celebrating his Irish heritage by using green chalk. A couple of inattentive walkers however missed the On Home point and started to tackle the circuit a second time. So we obviously had to have a down, down for them and for the hare as well:

Pics this week again come courtesy of Snappy. Here are a few from the walk:

And here are a few shots from the gathering back in the park. After the serious business of feeding our faces was over, the sky turned purple...and we turned to the less serious business of the circle:

Thanks again to our hares, our beermeisters and our winos!

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 28th August, 4 pm

Where: Budgie and Miss Behavin's Murrumba Downs manorhouse.

Dayboro does it again!

Once again, Dayboro provided a very pretty route and some perfect conditions for this last Sunday's meet. The sky was blue, the air was clean and crisp, and the surrounding hills sparkled in the sunlight. Our hares had laid on a really well-marked trail for the 26 of us who'd turned up to enjoy a hill or two, some beaut views, and some encounters with the locals (like this fella):

Pics this week come mostly courtesy of Snappy. Here are some shots from the walk:

And here are some of the runners on the trail:

We headed back to the hares' place to replenish our precious bodily fluids, and to enjoy a blaxing brazier, some triffic chili, dessert, and one another's company. Many, many thanks to our hares Banger and Make an Offer for an excellent trail and an excellent meal!

During the circle we celebrated an upcoming 18th - Happy birthday, Prattle!

And we also held a traditional naming ceremony for someone who's been joining us on Sunday afternoons for a little while. Welcome to your new name, Nipper!

Elsewhere, and earlier in the week, a number of our members participated in another of our occasional visits to the German Club. The beer was reportedly as good as ever:

Finally, Haughty would like to thank all hashers who have supported him in this year's Fred's Big Run. He's over halfway towards his 150 km target...and what a pretty shirt they've given him!

Next run/walk details
