Solstice saunter

Those who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder and love the sun can take comfort in the fact that we have now turned the corner...Spring and Summer are on their way! But in fact everyone seemed pretty cheerful at this week's run, despite the early sunset and pretty chilly conditions.

M. Promptu took the runners one way and the walkers another - and latecomers Haughty and Culture yet another. Potluck provided the usual 3 course feast. Thanks, all, for your contributions!

Here are some shots of the usual feeding frenzy:

Next week Escargot and an assistant or two are taking us up to Mt Nebo for the first time in a while. It should be considerably warmer there, but the rainforest may be a bit dark on the way home. So - it's suggested that you bring yourself a torch, as well as a chair.

Next run details
When: Sunday 1st July, 4 pm
Where: Manorina, Mt Nebo Road. A map! (Bring a chair - there are no longer any facilities here apart from a carpark)
Hare: Escargot and Co.

Dayboro dawdle

Twenty-five of us braved wintry conditions to do the rounds of Dayboro before rounding up at the hares' hilltop manor. We took a scenic route along a really well-marked trail (several sticks of blue chalk must have been harmed in setting it) and darkness was already starting to fall as the first of the runners came in:

Vast vats of cottage pie were consumed by the ravenous hordes who gathered around the patio heater in their beanies and puffer jackets. A second course followed in the form of an even vaster bowl of rice pudding. Ideal winter fare! Many, many thanks, hares!

Various wimps will be fleeing the winter in the next week - and we bade bon voyage to Budgie, Miss Behavin', Leave Pass and Eweshggr who are all heading northwards. (Perversely, Floater and Scratchit are bound for Tasmania.) Have a good time, all.

There's a new SPADEwerx Community Theatre production coming off in a couple of weeks, and as usual, a few hashers will be treading the boards, assisting backstage - and acting as sponsors. We hope to see the rest in the audience!

Next run details
When: Sunday 24th June, 4 pm (the days will be getting longer from now on!)
Where: Undambi Rotary Reserve, Mt. O'Reilly Road, Samford Valley. A map!
Hare: M. Promptu will set the run. Potluck will cater (please bring something to share)

Lost and found

As darkness fell, concerns grew: where, oh where, was Charcoal? A bunch of torch-bearing hashers headed back back along the muddy track - and were right well relieved to hear his answering calls (no-one wanted to perform mouth to mouth on him.) He'd taken a wrong turn and come back along the scenic route. That is, it would have been scenic if it hadn't been dark....

Here are a few shots from along the track - put the blurring down to speed rather than to tremor:

Back at the Upper Kedron Park Leave Pass served up a hearty feast of baked veges and chicken - just the rib-filling stuff for a dark winter evening. Many thanks!

Next run details
When: Sunday 17th June, 4 pm
Where: Dayboro IGA. A map!
Hares: Banger and Make an Offer

Bula!

It was a big Samford "Bula!" this last Sunday for our returnees from Fiji. The partying had continued for those who stayed on at Octopus Resort after Interhash ended. Rumour has it that Payback made the record books as the oldest bloke ever to complete a climb to the highest point on the island!

Potluck produced the usual feast after M. Promptu led us on a saunter around the local hillsides (which look a bit tame by comparison.) We enjoyed the company of 4 visitors - 3 of whom we had met at Interhash. These took part in a traditional welcoming ceremony - and were joined by Le W*nk and Shockjock, who had distinguished themselves on the Interhash stage ('nuff said...what goes on tour....)

The roaring fire was very pleasant, and there were a few marshmallows toasted. Here are just a few of the crowd of 30 or so enjoying the tucker:

And finally - you'll be glad to hear that Squelch has settled in to Iraq, adopting the local dress and hairstyle (i.e. no hair at all.) Thanks to Tatty for the news and photo - only 24 weeks to go....

Next run details
When: Sunday 10th June, 4 pm
Where: Parksedge Street, Upper Kedron. A map!
