Bishopsbourne, Baroona and Birthdays

This week's hash took us on an impressive tour of 19th Century Brisbane architecture. with a bespoke sneak through Bishopsbourne. Before anyone could set off though, we had to film the TnT promo video on behalf of Australia (no pressure). There was quite a bit of stripping off, and cross dressing as Hash T-shirts were dispensed from Cashconverter and Payback's  car and this was the final take

Our hare took us on an intriguing route through many ginnels. snickets and back passages of Milton and Paddington, the route took in a number of historical details.

Hash Architectural Delights

On our return there was salad (green and potato), silverside and a toothsome array of pickles. Both Superhacker and Leavepass forgot their origins and over-indulged in hot English mustard resulting in a full clearing of the sinuses, and a temporary (if somewhat welcome) inability to communicate.

As the sun went down we celebrated two significant hash birthdays Evacuate is ten times the age of his daughter (how clever of them to arrange their birthdays so close together). We were treated to delicious Pavlova and Trifle. Many thanks to our indomitable hare Culture,

The ceremony set Superhacker off on a trip down memory lane, to when Hopalong celebrated her third birthday in the same park in March 2006. Later that year these two were to join Samford Hash, but here they are pictured in their innocence...

At the On-On we greeted a couple of visitors from Tweed Heads Strong Arm and Muscles and their grand-dog Ziggy who was keen to get acquainted with the other Hash Dogs - Gunther asked to be blurred out for this festival of bottom sniffing and general examination of calling cards...

Payback also gave Evacuate some sage advice on how to approach a mid-life crisis since Evacuate has hit a bithday with a zero on it. Whilst we are all familiar with the sportscar-tattoo-piercing-younger woman memes around mid life, here is the definitive list from a recent Guardian article. I am pretty sure that the Samford Hash has covered this list in the past decade...Marathons, Becoming a Lycra Clad, Pondering your mortgage/superannuation. extreme sports, grey gap years, moisturising, starting a business, You name it we've done it

Saraband Saunter

This Sunday a large crowd (I didn't count them, but it looked like more than thirty) gathered at the SH3 favorite stomping ground of HT Ireland Reserve. Whilst google tells me it is very popular with dogs and trick-cyclists. I was not able to ascertain who the distinguished HT  Ireland was or is - Answers on a postcard.

We were primed by the hares to look out for Koalas. One was seen crossing the road when the trail was set - I heard no reports post-run of sightings.

We did observe that the kid's cubbys in the area are rather better than our main places of residence

Eatons hill put on another very sultry evening. One hasher who shall be nameless commented on the almost toxic levels of BO put out at the ON-ON - not us surely???

The On-On featured delicious curries and quiche. Thanks Footsie

On a sad note, this week saw the passing of our dear hash companion Toga. Best known for doing what all of us would if it wasn't for the social pressure... refusing to go on in  difficult conditions, and downing beers at Hash Christmas.

Banger and MakeAnOffer. have lost a much-loved member of their family, and we will miss him from the Hash family too. RIP, Toga.

A date for your diaries:

Please come to the Samford Community Night on Saturday March 21st. You are guaranteed a great night futher details from Culture

Warner Wander II

In a move unprecedented since August 2016. The Samford Hash took to the idyllic locale of  Dragonfly park at Warner.

The main headline of the week is that even though there was a 100% chance of rain, blue skies and a rainbow greeted us (or at least some thought they saw a rainbow anyway- getting high here were Underpass, Miss Demeanor and Floater)

The hare wasn't taking any risks with this dangerous weather, and to avoid chalk wash-away (or possibly as rumour has it, due to a nancy-boy calf strain) Banger set the trail entirely by mountain bike. It was a flat and varied walk/run through some delightful  new developments near Warner. I am sorry to say some of the runners have become rather litigious due to wet socks and will be sending in their dry cleaning bills.

The food at the on-on was absolutely sensational with cold cuts and a range of salads. Thanks to Hares Make an Offer and Banger!

Hash health has been down this week with more "bunging it on" from Superhacker involving three nights in the Mater because she passed out at the thought of her superannuation account, and a broken bone from Vegemite. Fizzer on the other hand is in top physical peak form taking on Ash Barty  at the Pat Rafter Arena.

Another Upper Kedron kanter

The route this last Sunday was an oldie but a goodie, especially on a very hot day. The grass was green, the trees had leafed up, and the shade was - as the poets say - grateful (an example of hypallage, just by the way). Did anyone hear any bellbirds in the grove? The runners didn't, but we were making a bit of noise ourselves.

Leave Pass's culinary achievements just keep getting better, and his kanga banga kurry was a real treat. Many thanks, Mr Hare!

We had thirty-something runners and walkers this week, and it was good to see the whole McK crew, broken toes and all.
