Cheesecake!

This week Samford Hasher Mollie - wearing nothing but some nail polish and a red ribbon - featured as The Westerner's Page 3 girl. Shameless!

And the small (but high-quality) group that gathered to help Haughty celebrate his birthday at Ironbark Gully enjoyed some cheesecake of another variety at the end of the meal.

There was some consternation when it seemed that Cash Converta was missing...mainly because she had the car keys that gave access to the drinks. It was a relief to see her!

Don't forget the Jewellery and Accessories Expo this Friday and Saturday. Guys - who knows what ROI (Return on Investment - remember?) a little outlay here might achieve?

Next run details
When: Sunday 31st August, 4 pm
Where: Due to illness - a change of plan. Now at John Scott Park, the village
Hares: M. Promptu will set the run. Potluck will cater - please bring something to share....

Radar's annual visitation

We had our annual visit from Hash Royalty this Sunday when Radar joined us for a trail that featured the usual Samford clines (of both the in- and de- varieties) and some pretty tricky checks and falsies as well.

He brought the breaking news that this year's Red Dress Run will be on the 8th December from the Plough Inn at Southbank. He also offered to stamp our passports so we can travel to the south side of the river - where he'll set us a hilly run through Toohey Forest. We're looking forward to that.

A rescue and recovery team had to be dispatched to locate a couple of hashers (one 2-legged, one 4-legged) who were overwhelmed by the beauty of the scenery and lost the trail as darkness fell. Here's Molly, looking traumatized in the wilderness:

And here's Molly, looking relaxed and happy in the wilderness:

Back at the hare's place we enjoyed a scrumptious meal and a sample of the Hash Mash Pale Ale. The news is not so good for the "Roadtrip" IPA - a pesky infection seems to have got into it. But what the heck! It's still alcoholic, isn't it?

Thanks to our hares!

We're looking forward to spending lots of moolah at Hugandkiss's Jewellery and Accessories spectacular at the end of this month...in time to frock up for the Hash Ball, perhaps?

When: Sunday 24th August, 4 pm - Haughty's Birthday Run - but please take it easy on the presents...nothing above $1000, OK?

House Mountain South Face

At 4 pm on Sunday the weather signals were all good for a House Mountain summit attempt and we began with a ticklish bit of climbing up a south-westerly arete with treacherous scree slopes on either side. This eventually brought us to the scarp leading up to the western col where we established Camp 1.

The walkers (including walking wounded Shockjock and Le W*nk) had an option to turn back from this point but instead elected to follow the runners up the ridge. They were rewarded with spectacular views over the valleys of Cedar Creek on one side and the South Pine on the other.

Le W*nk actually enjoyed the walk so much he did it a second time, arriving back in the dark with a misplaced dog lead.

Back in the stylish and luxurious comforts of Base Camp we shared some hearty fare and mountaineering tall tales. Many thanks to our hares Mile High and Hugandkiss!

It was good to welcome 3 visitors, none of whom seemed to be dismayed by the climb nor (more surprisingly) by us. Because the RA was so slack in fetching his camera, many of the group had dispersed by the time this shot featuring our Japanese guests was taken:

Next week's run will give us the opportunity to sample this year's 2 Hash mashes. The "Road Trip" American-style IPA should be just drinkable (Shockjock hopes) although it's still a bit young.

When: Sunday 17th August, 4 pm
Where: Miss Demeanour and Shockjock's woodland home in Bunya

Hornblower's First Time

Virgin hare Hornblower bravely opted to set a live run this last Sunday and led us on a merry chase out through the Royal Estates and along the South Pine river. He started off using lots of flour but the markings became scanter as supplies appeared to run low.... Everyone made it home in the end! Congratulations and thanks!

A down-down for the virgin hare:

Culture and Haughty cut a cake to celebrate 39 years of Wedded Bliss. Where was Eweshggr with his "only 20 years for murder" quip?

And we met Nunu - the latest 4-legged Hash hound to join the Samford Hash pack. When he's not hashing he graces Gastrick and Miss Fit's abode:

Next week's excursion is along the crest ot the House Mountain range. Hares Mile High and Hugandkiss advise those who use hiking poles to bring them. Pitons and crampons are optional.

When: Sunday 10th August, 4 pm
