Hot Spice, Hot Dates, or just Hot

Despite unseasonably hot temperatures, about twenty-five hashers showed up for a walk along the banks of the pine from Sargent reserve. Maybe they had heard about Footsie's legendary curry, or were keen to confirm just how bad the skate park really is ...

Either way, we were taken on a well marked trail, skillfully set through the back blocks of Eaton's Hill and along the South Pine.

We returned, sweatily, for a magnificent feast of chicken curry with real cardamom and cinnamon sticks followed by ice-cream and dates from the Middle East (I'm not sure how EweShaggr managed to get them all on board or accommodate all our tastes).

At the circle we had a few scores to settle. Unusually (and rather cruelly to my way of thinking), those who did attend the St Patrick's Day wash-out hash of last week, but did so in a particularly feeble and half-hearted fashion; Culture, Superhacker, Shockjock got down downs.

Good to know that some people know how to do St Paddy's properly (where's the beef and in your dreams co-haring the Sumo Hash in Tokyo)

NipLiquor got a birthday down-down for being 13. Yes. the shock-demeanors now have a hat-trick of teenagers at home.

We were delighted to welcome back Tweetie-Pie

Finally I want you to synchronize your watches and make sure to turn up for the 4pm start next week. Yes.. that's 4pm!!! Winter Plumage optional

We need your dedication to match that of this dash-cam hasher..

Singin in the rain

Just as the faithful Samford hash stalwarts were making their way to Undambi Rotary Reserve the skies opened.. like this

Notable among the chicken-ers out were Superhacker and Hopalong who just called in to pick up Misdemeanor, Shock Jock and Co when they were lured in for a cup of tea and succumbed to the bad weather. Meanwhile Culture returned to base to avoid being washed out. Leaving a hearty band of indomitable hashers to make the 15 metre walk from their cars to the shelter...

This artifice would no doubt have gone unnoticed.. However the shock-demeanors and superhacker decided to lavish their meticulously prepared pot-luck offerings on the assembled company only to find, that at 6.10 the On-On was finished. 😭

St Patrick's day did not pass without fanfare. EweShaggr was at pains to inform us that he was wearing a green T-shirt, green shoelaces and that every nether garment in between was also a tribute to the Apostle of Ireland.

Hello Possums

Hello Possums!

About 19 shy, furry creatures met last Sunday at Kupidabin – the original name for this “place of possums”.

They frolicked in the bush for an hour or so and then scurried back to gaze at each other with huge dark eyes.  So gentle and lovable.   Unfortunately, they were driven off at 5pm by some big hairy Hashers.

M. Promptu laid on a range of routes to suit all levels of energy on yet another hot and humid day.  And Pot Luck provided the usual magnificent dinner.  It was good to welcome home Kermit from the Northern Wilds, our Grand Master and Mistress from the gemfields, and to see Boxer and Agnes again.

Meanwhile Lax and LeW*nk, by all accounts have been enjoying some R&R in Far North Queensland taking in the scenery and  investigating things beginning with B: Babinda Boulders...

Barron Falls
Big Trees

Car park chaos!

30 of us turned up for Sunday's meet, presenting a bit of a parking challenge at Boombana. Remember Tetris? Once we'd sorted ourselves out, the runners headed off to Jolly's Lookout and the walkers to Nebo Village - all except for Lax, who tripped right at the start and didn't go anywhere. Lucky we had the First Aid kit with us, and Cash Converta to use it.

Once back at the picnic area, Escargot and her helpers unveiled a feast of quiche and salads to great acclaim. Many thanks to them!

Down, downs were awarded to Escargot for some invisible trail markings, to Scratchit for becoming a grandfather and to Hot to Trot on her welcome return to Samford.

The latest news on Lax is that she received more medical attention from Doctor Le W*nk on Sunday night and that despite this she was able to head off on a work trip to Mackay on Monday. Get well soon, Lax! And get yourself a real doctor!
