Taunting the turtles

We'd BYOed our food and drink as agreed, but no-one had spared a thought for the Warner Lakes ducks and turtles. They're clearly used to being fed from the viewing platforms around the lake and found it hard to believe - as they showed off their beak-snapping and doggy-paddling tricks - that their performance didn't merit a reward. They eventually gave up on us and headed off in disgust:

After a full house last week for Superhacker's farewell, it was a more select group who gathered at Warner on Sunday. And what a great afternoon it was for a walk or run around the area! The lake was sparkling, its surrounds a brilliant green, the sky a pellucid (good word, that) blue, and the temperature as temperate as could be. Many thanks to Payback for setting the trail!

Back at the shelter we shared travel yarns and jokes, but Covid-safely didn't share drinks or eats:

And in discussion at the circle we resolved to continue the BYO drinks and eats arrangements for the moment. So hares will set a trail, but will not be providing a meal; and for the moment we will continue to meet in parks (or controlled venues).

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 27th February, 5 pm

Where: Dayboro - opposite Dayboro IGA. A map!

Hares: Banger and Make an Offer will mark the trail. Please BYO drinks and eats. We strongly suggest you bring a chair as well.

On, on!

Special! Superhacker Farewell Issue!

This last Sunday we bade Superhacker farewell - or (as we hope) Au Revoir! She (together with Hopalong) has been a member of Samford Hash for many years, ever since she was introduced to us by the Shggrs at a time when they were all living around Mt. Nebo....The first hash she hosted was at Mt. Nebo, when she surveyed the remains of the meal she'd provided and remarked, "Hashers do eat a lot, don't they?" Since then she has set many a run and walk, especially around St. Lucia, West End and the UQ campus. She's gone away on many a Hash Femmes weekend and taken part in many Red Dress and Halloween runs. She's introduced B Flat and Malpractice to the delights of hashing. And she's made many posts to this blog. We'll miss her - but it's nice to think that we'll have somewhere to stay in the Cambridge area, isn't it? Perhaps we should organise an offshore hash meet in the UK sometime soon....

Here are some nostalgic shots, extracted from the blog archives. You may recognise a younger version of yourself in some of them.

On, on, Superhacker, and all the best!

It seems that Queensland Covid-19 regulations may be easing as the Omicron peak passes. We'll review our BYO drinks and food arrangements as this happens, but will keep them in place for at least one more week, and discuss this further in the circle.

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 20th February, 5 pm

Where: Dragonfly Park, Pallas Parade, Warner. A map!

Hares: Payback will set the run and walk. Please BYO food and drink! And you might like to bring a chair as well....
