The Hills

Last Sunday we ventured to the Arana Hills district where we sampled some of the vertical slopes in the Bunyaville Conservation Park. There wasn't much conversation though, as we huffed and puffed up those slopes. Thanks to James Bondage's cunning plan, all the pain was at the beginning of the trail with a virtually downhill run for the remainder.

As usual, Redbreast provided a sumptuous meal which took the chill off a cool evening.

Next week is potluck in the Village. As some of us are going to the Jazz & Shiraz get together, we are going to meet in the St Pauls Church grounds on the corner of Mt Samson Road and Serendipity Drive. So, why not come along to this event and work off the excesses afterwards. Details below:

Vive la France

It was a big turnout at Banks Street Reserve last Sunday to celebrate Bastille Day. The trail featured a mixture of grand old Queenslanders and urban bushland.

French attire proliferated, with lots of berets, scarves and striped shirts. Tinkerbell and Escargot wore French maid's outfits. Apologies to Escargot, but Tinkerbell's outfit was the sexiest. Redbreast thought so too, when he revealed his thong to her and it wasn't on his foot. Did she have a second look?

A rustic bœuf bourguignon with boiled potatoes and rice followed.

Some revealing photos:

It's Eweshagger's lucky day. Isn't he in for a surprise

A large Francophile turnout

Home turf

Last Sunday we gathered at our home ground in Samford Village. It was a glorious Winter's afternoon as the walkers set out for a leisurely stroll and the runners for a leisurely run. The trail meandered through the Samford Parklands and up through the Samford Commons precinct.

Here are some photos:

After winning the Samford Show best dog contest, Molly refused
to turn around for a photo, unless she received a fee for her efforts

As usual, potluck provided a wonderous feast afterwards and there wasn't a salad in sight!

It's a Bastille day run next Sunday, so get into the swing of things and wear something with a French flavour.

Tennis history

It was a glorious winter's afternoon last Sunday in Frew Park which stands on the hallowed grounds of the iconic Milton Tennis Centre.

However, thoughts of hallowed grounds were pushed aside as the Samford Hash crowd contemplated on how they were going to survive the long 10 km run and 5 km walk. They all did though, and really enjoyed the scenic and well marked trail.

Haughty was late in arriving and very late back from the walk, having decided to walk the runners trail. A rescue team (Shockjock) boldly went forth to find him. Meanwhile, a distraught Culture was trying to remember where he kept his will.

The drama was soon forgotten after we tucked into curried sausages and rice followed by another icon - Tim Tams. Thanks to Shockjock, Missdemeanour and Co for the great run and great food!
