ANZAC Day amble

"Dawn on ANZAC Day" - Culture took this shot over our Samford Valley stamping grounds from Camp Mountain on Sunday morning:

And later that day we gathered somewhere down there for a pleasant stroll along the South Pine or an equally pleasant jog across the river and around the Days Road corridor.

Back at Undambi after this M. Promptu excursion, Potluck, as usual, produced a marvelously sumptuous and varied banquet. Many thanks to all for their contributions!

Meanwhile Shaggy and Cadbury were enjoying some wonderful weather at Girraween. Shaggy captioned this image "On, on, you lazy buggers!" (but funnily enough didn't supply a summit shot from the First Pyramid....)

And Snappy was exercising her photographic skills on the NSW coast:

April anniversaries

April must be the month for wedding specials - we celebrated three anniversaries this last Sunday (as well as the birth of a grandchild). And since it's claimed that the average Australian marriage lasts for 12.3 years, all of these couples are pretty unusual. That's even before you take their other quirks and oddities into account.... We toasted them all with a cup of fizz:

Our hares had taken us on a scenic excursion along the shining waters of the Pine River. Here are some of Snappy's postcard views from the track:

And here are some more scenic views of the walkers (before they tackled the final hill....):

Here's an even more scenic view of some runners:

A lavish and varied spread followed (3 mains, salad, and dessert!) Many thanks to our hares for a well-marked trail, for feeding us so well, and for preventing the mosquitoes from feeding on us!

Meanwhile Banger and Make an Offer were celebrating her birthday by running and walking along a Sunshine Coast beach:

Looking ahead...

The frocked-up gin-soaked Hash Femmes outing arranged by Cadbury and Idle Vice will be on the 6th June (look out for emails on this).

And the general consensus in the circle was that we wouldn't do the Bunya Mountains/Jimbour Opera thing this year. Instead we'll attempt another Christmas in July weekend in the Ballandean/Girraween area (and see if we can persuade Payback to perform some more pyjama-clad table dancing!)

Finally, next Sunday is ANZAC Day, and after some discussion (since we're uncertain of how many will turn up) we decided to make this a Potluck meet. Please bring something to share.

Hares: There may well be a set trail; otherwise M. Promptu will guide you. Potluck will cater (please bring something to share).

Another cracking new venue

Over the years Jamesbondage and Redbreast have found and introduced us to a number of great new venues, and this Sunday's one was another corker. There's lots of country to explore from the cricket ground at West Chermside, and we're bound to return there in future.

The walkers took on a circuit that included a bushy hillside, a creekside wander and some interesting real estate. The runners added a jaunt around the Chermside Hills Reserve. The trail was very well marked, and the runners had only themselves to blame for missing an obvious turn and adding a couple of km to their route....

Walkers en route:

Back at the cricket club, 30-something of us enjoyed some triffic hotpot, followed by a selection of desserts - and birthday cake. Many thanks to our hares! And many thanks to our Winers...and to our Beermeister...and to our photographer Snappy!

The youngest person among us was celebrating his six-month birthday:

And another of our younger members - Miss Behavin' - was celebrating a birthday as well:

She was joined for a down, down by someone who's been walking with us for a while as a nameless person. She has now been awarded a moniker with all due ceremony and will henceforth be know as Skippy. The name references her former employer - and if you weren't there you might like to ask her about the Japanese pronunciation of "Qantas".

Sunset - ahhh....Surely you weren't too busy drinking to notice it?

Finally - this week Payback and Cash Converta became first-time grandparents. Congratulations to Mum, Dad, Grandmother and Grandfather!
