Another eggcellent Easter event!

Mile High and Hugandkiss hosted this year's Easter egg run, topping it off with an eggstremely eggsacting and engaging quiz and the award of eggy prizes. Rain earlier in the day meant that markings were indecipherable, and darkness fell before the last of the walkers made it home. But it was a pretty cheerful crew that gathered at the end of the trail for tuna bake, salad, hot cross buns and chocolate, chocolate, chocolate....(Thanks to Topless for the photography.)

Friday evening saw a number of those who had not gone away for the Easter weekend meeting at a German hostelry for a final goodbye to Where's the Beef? and In Your Dreams. Large volumes of pork, potatoes, duck, wurst, kraut and other delicacies were consumed, along with the odd noggin or two of beer:

I'm not sure what was going on down at the other end of the table:

Don't forget - it's a 4 pm start time from this Sunday, folks!

Vegetarian's nightmare!

One of our previous Potluck meals was heavily biased towards quiches, and another comprised mainly salads. This Sunday, however, Potluck provided a carnivore's feast and a vegetarian's nightmare - chicken curry, roast chicken, BBQ chicken, meat pies, sausage rolls...meat, meat, meat! All good, though.

The M. Promptu run reproduced the last circuit we completed from this venue, and many of the walkers took on the same route as they did last time. Others picked their own paths, and for LFC the Hash run was just part of his circuit - he added it to a run from Ferny Grove station and back. (Show off!)

We've been naming a few newbies recently, and this occasion was one for bestowing a moniker on Oy-ishi - just as she's about to return to Japan. She'll be back, however, and in the meantime she can check out how they do things at the Osaka and Kobe Hashes.

Shockjock was comforted by his daughters after a 2 year old described him as a "scary man":

For those who are not camping it up this Easter weekend, Gastrick has organised a Hash function at a certain German hostelry on Friday evening. It'll be your absolutely last chance to see In Your Dreams and Where's the Beef? for a while. And here's a little something to help you prepare (thanks to Charcoal and Strine for the educational link.)

Finally - the evenings are starting to draw in and the time has come for us to move to a 4 pm start time. We'll do this from the first run after Easter - that is, on Sunday the 3rd of April. Mark your diaries, folks!

So long and thanks for all the sushi....

It was a somewhat sad occasion this Sunday as we bade farewell to In Your Dreams and Where's the Beef? They hosted their final Samford Hash run...and as usual, managed to find a few hills in the West End area for us to enjoy. It's been great knowing them and running, walking and drinking with them over the past 3 years. We hope they'll find some opportunities to wear their Samford Hash caps and shirts in Tokyo:

Here's the crowd, showing off plenty of Silver Jubilee shirts (thanks to Topless for the photography):

Our hares shared a farewell down, down:

Le W*nk was among those who promised to visit them, and there was even talk of a Hash trip to the Land of the Rising Sun:

This week we also had a chance to meet the newest member of Gastrick, Miss Fit and Nunu's family. Bryn was exhausted by his first Hash walk:

And finally, in a traditional naming ceremony, we honoured Dingo, who's been joining us every second weekend for weeks now (he spends other weekends with the pack on Fraser Island.)

Next run details
When: Sunday 20th March, 5 pm
Where: Undambi Rotary Reserve, corner Mt. O'Reilly Road and Greggs Road, Samford Valley. A map!
Hares: M. Promptu will set the run/walk; Potluck will cater (please bring something to share)

He does it again!

Le W*nk has gained quite a reputation as a gourmet chef, and this Sunday he did it again. Hashers were unable to eat it all and packed the leftovers into doggy bags to take home - now, that's pretty unusual!

The run/walk took the group around the tracks and back passages of Mitchelton. True to the hare's usual form it was not a short trail....Mile High and Hugandkiss made it even longer by getting lost. Perhaps they've grown used to just going round and round in a circuit on their recent cruise - there are probably limited options for getting lost on a promenade deck.

A rather sad occasion this coming Sunday - a farewell run for In Your Dreams and Where's the Beef?

Swanning around the lake

Our hares introduced 27 of us to some new territory this last Sunday, taking us on a scenic tour of Warner Lakes and giving us a chance to collide with the many locals out for their Sunday constitutionals. At a couple of "feeding station" checks we threw bread at scores of turtles and ducks as well as a pair of black swans and their cygnets. They all politely ate it.

Here's a shot of water thick with turtles - thanks to wildlife photographer Superhacker!

Hopalong has been doing some running recently, and she joined the runners group for a stretch....

Back home at the ranch, we auctioned an (unworn) Perth Interhash Red Dress Run shirt donated by Eweshggr. The proceeds go to the Home Away from Homelessness women's shelter. Escargot was the successful bidder (and incidentally, did take part in the Perth Interhash Red Dress run. For some reason, she never got the shirt.) Here she is (with Hopalong) modelling her acquisition.

A few members of the hungry hordes:

In a traditional quaint naming ceremony, a couple who have enthusiastically joined us on every run/walk for the last few weeks received their Hash monikers. Welcome to Cadbury ("it only takes a glass and a half") and Shaggy (according to his wife, the long hair he had as a youth has migrated further south - he's willing to show it off for a small fee.)

Shaggy and Cadbury:
