Q. When do doctors get annoyed?

A. When they lose their patients (boom, boom). We missed out on our usual sharing of cracker jokes immediately after Christmas, and caught up this Sunday with jokes from some high-quality bon-bons.

But Floater and Scratchit's trail was no joke at all, beginning with a real heart-starter on the way up to the Ironbark bears. They were still celebrating Christmas with a friend:

The runners began on the walkers' trail, and then went on an impromptu runners' loop. On Nipliquor's suggestion they headed up the hill "a bit" and then on down a bike track criss-crossed by exposed roots. In the good old hashing tradition, when one fell over the rest kept on running....Announcing - the first injury of 2024!

Call that an injury? When I were young....

Back home we feasted on pasta, featuring home-grown veges, and more roasted home-grown veges. Many thanks to our hares, Floater and Scratchit!

Now - for those going to Interhash in Queenstown, here are two really important quotes from the latest Interhash newsletter:

"Trail reservation system (new)
Something completely new for an Interhash, successfully tested recently for EuroHash 2023. In 2 to 4 weeks we’ll provide you with a link and FAQs to book your seat on Saturday and Sunday trails. This will avoid the usual morning chaos fighting for a spot on your favourite trail, together with your mates.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, will be to get together (physically?) with your friends and decide (shock, horror!) which trail you want to book so you’re all on the same one. Ahead of registering, of course.

If you don't book, you'll be randomly allocated to wherever there is space remaining."

AND

"Ballbreaker special warning: this one will be brutal with 27km of mountain tracks and 1,200m elevation gain plus possibly very difficult weather conditions."

We need to talk!
