Home and Away 2

The Home run this last Sunday was in Eaton's Hill, where a rather intimate group of half a dozen or so hardy souls took on some of the local terrain. Here's an account by one of the hares, Escargot:
We met at H. T. Ireland Reserve to find that it had been under about 1.3 metres of water the day before.  6 hardcore hashers gathered for the second smallest Samford run that I have ever been on. Tinkerbell, Hook, Dingo and Leave Pass turned out for the live hare run by Footsie and Escargot. It was cold and a bit damp, but everyone was soon warmed up by the hills. A good walk was had by most and a good run by Tinkerbell & offspring to the water tower. Footsie provided a great butter chicken!
The Away group meanwhile was in Yaraka in Western Queensland, where rather less rain had still made the roads impassable for those who hadn't already got there earlier in the week. This meant that we sadly missed out on the company of Le W*nk and Son, who made it to within a few km of the venue before turning back for the long drive home....

By Saturday afternoon the rain had cleared and 15 of us set out for the local landmark, Mt. Slowcombe. There were 3 trails - short (2 km), medium (8.5 km) and long (15 km) with a reasonable number of hashers attempting each of them. Here's the group at the start outside the famous Yaraka Hotel:

And here's Floater, Culture and friend, looking remarkably fresh at the end of the 15 km long course:

Saturday night found us enjoying a old-fashioned knees-up in honour of Culture's birthday. It included line-dancing plus some other dancing which was a bit harder to identify:

Freddy Mercury put in a special appearance:

A great time was had by all - thanks to Nick, Chris, Gerry, Hayley, Grimmo, the Irish girls, Tom the indefatigable musician, and everyone else at the Yaraka Hotel!
