Travelers' Tales

Back from Japan, the eleven hashers who'd spent the last couple of weeks on a whirlwind tour had plenty of tales to tell. What were the particularly hashing highlights? Well, one would have to be meeting up with Where's the Beef? in Tokyo for a meal and a drink or two. Sadly, In Your Dreams' work commitments prevented her from joining us. Next time perhaps....

Another highlight would have to be meeting up with Oishi and Spielberg and her family for a family BBQ near Kyoto. We also visited the local community arts centre, where Payback found a suit that would have fitted him perfectly and reflected his Man Of The Woods persona:

How do teenagers sense that Budgie is a former teacher?

Elsewhere, we all donned our yukatas on the overnight ferry from Kyushu to Kobe

and were still wearing them for the obligatory "How many hashers can fit on one bed?" shot:

Here are a few more random scenic pics from the land of the rising sun, with hashers showing a tendency to get in the way of the view:

And talking of journeys, this Sunday saw us bidding farewell to Tackle, who's heading back to his island home for a while. All the best for your ongoing journey, and we hope to see you again, young man!

After some tumultuous weather the day before, storms still threatened, and Gunther was not at all happy about the thunder. However, we didn't feel a drop of rain as we ventured out for a stroll and jog up the creek. Back home we enjoyed some ramen, salad, snags, bakes and cakes. At least five regulars were away with lurgies and another two were in Tasmania, so there was plenty for all.

Here are some images from the occasion, courtesy of the indefatigable Snappy:
