Mother Superior 2022

In some ways it seems hardly any time since we were celebrating Mothers' Day last year...but on the other hand a lot of things have happened in the interval. For example, last year's winner of the Mother Superior title has scarpered off to the UK, and was hence only present in spirit to participate in the handover. But we're sure she'd agree that this year's award has gone to a worthy recipient.

This Mothers' Day the decision had been to give all mums a break from cooking by meeting at the Ferny Grove Sports Club and letting their talented Malaysian chefs spoil us. A great decision, especially as the venue also presented every mother with an ice-cream dessert as a bonus! Fortunately the rain held off to allow for a pleasant run and walk around the local area. Here are some of the walkers en route:

And here is the group back at the club, where we were accommodated at our usual long table:

And (drum-roll, please) in the somewhat elongated circle Payback made the long-awaited announcement that this year's Mother Superior was none other than Idle Vice! She's been doing plenty of intense mothering recently to fur-baby Gunther (I'm sure he would hate being called that), so the award is particularly apposite at the moment. As usual, she pledged to guard the formidable foundation-wear and other blingy items well, and to enhance their decor before passing them on to next year's winner. Congratulations! You looked stunning, Mum Superior! Please feel free to show off these photos to all and sundry!

Numbers will continue to be small for the next couple of weeks, and those who look after some of our Hash gear are going to be away. So to keep things simple, we made a decision in the circle that for the next two weeks we'd revert temporarily to the BYO food and drink arrangement we had during the height of the last Covid-19 wave. (For the moment this will apply to the 15th and 22nd May only.) After that we should be able to return to some rather more normal arrangements.

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 15th May, 4 pm.

Where: Parksedge Street, Upper Kedron (a map!)

Hare: Leave Pass will set the trail. Please BYO food and drinks this week.

On, on!
