Mothers and others

Our Mothers' Day run this year coincided with a Big Birthday for Culture, and it was nice to have a lot of hashers there to share champers and cake. Hares Charcoal and Strine provided a really well-marked trail (with the usual Clear Mountain inclines and declines), some vats of succulent spag bol and a wicked birthday cake. Many thanks to them!

Green thumbs Jamesbondage and Redbreast, Banger and Make an Offer, Scratchit and Eweshggr all brought a profusion of tropical fruit to share around. What a feast!

2015 Mother Superior Escargot is still overseas and was hence unavailable to pass on the formidable foundationwear that accompanies the annual award. However Culture was able to rustle up a little something to present to our 2016 recipient Hugandkiss. Here she is...demonstrating her mothering skills with Mollie.

We'll pass on the rest of the award when Escargot gets back.

Meanwhile, what is the news of Escargot? We'll let her tell it in her own words - her tour has continued into continental Europe:
I had a ball with my home hash on Princes Day 2016 and I actually did get the T-shirt which will be on parade when I get home. Played a really weird game called Klootshceiten, involving no hands and egg throwing on a dyke. Yes, it did get a bit eggy but great fun.
The previous weekend, I did a superb tour around the city of London and then across the river to many Shakespearean haunts.  We started from a pub that was built in 1676 but has its origins in the 1400's so Shakespeare would probably have hashed there too!  A great T-shirt from this run too although no down downs for me, but a beer stop on the run and an impromptu beer stop on the run.
And here are some pics to illustrate the above:

And Klootwhateveritis - the eggy thing on a dyke:

Finally, Hash Camino walkers Floater and Legover have both made it to Santiago and will be returning home in a few days. Here's a small selection of their latest pics.
