The groves of academe

once more echoed to cries of "On, on!" this weekend at another brainy UQ meet. A multitude of checks provided many opportunities for the rigorous testing of hypotheses - through research which sometimes led up blind alleys but which always challenged our initial assumptions - as we explored the nether regions of the campus. Penetrating some of these secret recesses proved an interesting and exhilarating exercise (as the b. said to the a.)

Latecomers and shortcutters Jamesbondage and Redbreast caught up with the runners after the bold crossing of the Great Court and the visit to the Lakes. From here the route took us via the Green Bridge to Dutton Park. The runners' trail featured a loop along the Brisbane Corso - past what were (before the floods) some of the most expensive houses in town. Finally 20 runners and walkers converged for a cheerful on, on at the Tennis Centre. The ice wasn't really necessary to cool the drinks.

Thanks to Superhacker and Hopalong for another stimulating excursion!

Next Sunday we'll be testing another theory - that Mt Nebo is warmer in winter than the Samford Valley. Is it really so - or is it just the Shggrs' red-hot passion for one another that makes them think it? Bring your thermometers to check it out....
