On the waterfront

The last time Samford Hash met at Lake Samsonvale, the waterfront looked pretty seedy. The dam was at less than 20% capacity and the Water Board was concerned about the fire danger from the vegetation growing on the lake floor.

How things have changed! This week the lake was brimming, the flooded saplings out in the lake were dead, and the track around the shoreline was crowded with fishermen. The sunset over the water was spectacularly scenic....What a pity no-one had a camera!

Conversation at the on, on revealed that we have a former Job's Daughter and a former Rainbow Girl in our midst. They're both Masonic organisations, we learned - but neither of these two would reveal their secret handshakes. The Masons would be proud.

Here's a Masonic joke (but I guess it could be translated into a Hash one)

A man is wandering the streets, very drunk, at 1 in the morning. The police stop and question him:
'Where are you going?'
'I'm on my way to attend a lecture on Freemasonry (or Hashing, if you like)'
'Really? Who's going to be giving a lecture at 1 am?'
'My wife!'

Plans are building for the 1000th run on 13th June. Charcoal and Strine don't know it yet, but a number of hashers are planning to camp out the night at their place - and some are planning to stay for more than just a night....

Our next run will be on Mother's Day. Bring your mother along...or bring someone who would like to be a mother, and we'll see what we can arrange.

Next run details
When: Sunday 9th May, 4 pm - Mother's Day
Where: Leave Pass's Upper Kedron hideaway
Hares: Leave Pass, assisted by The Invisible Woman

If you need directions to this run, please email us or ring one of the contact numbers on our web site.
