According to a perfectly respectable cosmological theory, our everyday universe is but one of many, each with its own set of beings and physical laws. So presumably Valhalla and the Olympian gods might be found in one; Captain America and Wonder Woman in another; Gotham City in yet another. What happens when heroes and villains from these parallel universes intersect? The Samford Hash Christmas party 2024, that's what!
Here's the motley collection of mythical and magical and fictional and fanciful and factual characters that gathered in Dayboro on Saturday (minus Woody from the Toy Story Universe - he was late):
Honkers (as Lady Liberty from the Universe of Platonic Forms) was judged the best dressed female, and Mile High (from the Dr. Seuss Universe) was judged the best dressed male:
It was a really fun night in the grand old Christmas tradition of feasting, drinking, dressing up, games-playing and present-sharing. It seems that no matter what world you come from, Christmas is celebrated in the same way....Thanks to all for their contributions to the meal, thanks as always to our winos and beermeisters, thanks to Payback for organising prizes and presentations, and a HUGE THANKS to our hosts, Banger and Make an Offer for their hospitality and for organising the games and the disco lights!

Sunday was a really hot day (over 36 in Samford), but the recovery run was well-attended (especially the bit at the pub):
