Too right

The prophets at the BOM were too right in predicting a wet Easter. But Samford hashers were undaunted, and though we didn't exceed the current gathering limit of 30 we came close to it.

There was no point in anyone marking a trail in these conditions, so walkers and runners were led respectively by live hares Strine and B&W. The forest was looking wonderfully green and lush and of course the trail was as flat as usual.

We retired to the hares' place to enjoy the views from the verandah and to find that the beer esky again featured a classy Irish drop.

Some tasty pasta and salad followed. Many thanks to our hares!

And thanks once more to Snappy for the pix!

Shockjock and Miss Demeanour always go camping at Easter. This year they had to find some innovative activities to pass the time under what shelter they could find.

Finally - you're invited to cast your mind back to Easter last year. We were "hashing in households" and it seemed possible that we'd be doing so for months. Shockjock and Miss Demeanour had to camp in their backyard, and Superhacker was still in rehab following surgery at the Mater. Things are a lot better now, aren't they?

Sadly, they are not so everywhere in the world, as Topless reports from Germany:

"Here in Europe, in Germany, in Bonn...Covid is still ruling our daily lives quite severely!! The lockdown has been extended - again - until April 18 (at least) and they think it will continue even longer and possibly harsher!! We're in the middle of the third wave and numbers seem to keep rising.

So many people suffering so severely...with hotels and pubs and cafes and gyms and many, many  shops closed...a lot of people are on their last leg mentally and financially.

And so many people still passing away every day with - or due to - Covid. And numbers still seem to be rising !! Thousands and thousands of new infections every day...hundreds of people passing away every day...businesses vanishing from the market....

People are getting increasingly weary and tired of the whole situation...getting an appointment for the vaccination is starting to resemble a lottery more and more, partly also due to bad organisation by states and local authorities it seems.

And then there are some other people, who are refusing to get vaccinated at all and the 'Querdenker' are demonstrating in the streets - side by side - wearing no masks !!"

Her good news is that

"My Mum has recovered really, really well and is doing fine . . considering her age . . she's 92 now. She's already had both her vaccinations with BionTech / Pfizer and now I am eagerly waiting to receive mine soon with - hopefully - BionTech / Pfizer, too."

Topless sends us

"some warm and happy 'EASTER GREETINGS'...[and]...big, warm hugs." She "sincerely hope[s] to be able to return to Oz as soon as possible !!!"

We too look forward to seeing her and her mum back here as soon as possible.
