Bushed in the burbs

Our hares set our heads spinning this last Sunday, with a bewildering, twisting, turning, check-filled excursion through Stafford, Kedron and even (I think) bits of Chermside. We would occasionally catch glimpses of a landmark we recognised, but would be seeing it from a completely unfamiliar direction. Occasionally someone would exclaim "Oh, I know where we are!" before we plunged back into a wilderness of unfamiliar streets, parks and laneways.

Many thanks to the hares for a thoroughly enjoyable magical mystery tour - even those who had done the Bridge to Brisbane in the morning found it a relaxing tour of the territory.

Hardcore's hound Kumo (Japanese for "cloud" - and also for "spider") seemed to have grown a lot in a week. He reminded me of the following little story:

Two blonde housemates decide to get a puppy, and go off together to choose one. However when they see the litter the little dogs are all so cute they find it very hard to agree on one. They decide to get one each.

On the way home they discuss the question of how they will tell the two little dogs apart.

"I know," says one. "We'll tie a red ribbon around my puppy's neck and a blue one around yours."

They do this - but next day when they get home from work the puppies have been playing and have torn their ribbons off.

"We'll get them some collars," says the second blonde. "My puppy's one can be blue and yours can be red."

They do this - but the next day when they get home from work the puppies have been playing even more vigorously and have pulled one another's collars off.

"Oh, how are we going to tell them apart?" wails one of the blondes.

And then the other blonde suddenly has a brilliant idea: "I know!" she says. "I'll have the black puppy and you can have the white one!"

It's Fathers' Day next Sunday, which means it's once again time for the annual presentation of the Tight Jocks Award! Our hare is the current holder of the trophy. He promises that the Tight Jocks have never seen the inside of a washing machine from the day he first donned them! Who'll receive the honour this year? Come along and find out....
