Pot luck is always a wonderful chef, and did another great job following this Sunday's run/walk from the village. Even Fleabite tucked into a piled-up plate....
We welcomed the Shggrs back from their wanderings, and also welcomed YShggr's egg and bacon pie - which she'd left behind at home the last time we had a potluck occasion.
Here's a little culinary story:
A bushwalker is lost in Western Australia, and runs out of food. Luckily he comes across a numbat, whacks it on the head with a rock, and cooks it. He's tucking in when the smoke from his fire attracts a National Park ranger....
The bushwalker is arrested for killing a member of an endangered species. When his case comes up in court he defends himself by explaining that he was starving.
The magistrate accepts this explanation, but as he releases the bushwalker he asks, "Tell me, just as a matter of interest, what did the numbat taste like?"
"Well, Your Honour," said the bushwalker, "it's a bit hard to say. It was rather like...a cross between a quokka and a Leadbeater's possum."
We have a couple of virgin hares this coming Sunday! Their message is - bring some togs and jump into their pool after the run....
