Cedar Creek sunset

At this time of the year the sun sets pretty early over the hills that ring the Cedar Creek valley, and as it does the chill sets in. This didn't seem to quell the spirits of some 26 or so hardy souls who gathered this last Sunday for a sunset jog and stroll, though many stayed pretty well wrapped up. (And that included Floater and Scratchit, just returned from hiking in the Tasmanian snows!)

We were greeted at Andy Williams Park by some pesky feral invaders...seven of them in total - here's one:

A few shots from the chilly walk and run:

"The rich man in his castle, the poor man at his gate" -

Given the outside temperatures, it was pretty pleasant to be indoors (with a fire blazing) for the on, on....

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 17th July at 4 pm

Where: The majority of hashers are going to Killarney on a Christmas-in-July Hash weekend away - so for them the walk and run will be in that warm, warm place. Take care to stay hydrated, and watch out for heatstroke, folks! The stayathomes will meet at the Arana Leagues Club for an impromptu walk and run, drinks and a club meal.

Hares: At Killarney - as arranged. At Arana Hills - M. Promptu.

(Advance notice - the run/walk on the 24th July will be in Wilston, from Idle Vice and Upstanding's mansion.)

On, on!

Winter favourites

Another inner city gathering last Sunday - McCook Park, Newmarket. Back in 1949 the council acquired five acres of land adjacent to a tannery and named it McCook Park. The McCooks were a local family who had resided in the area for nearly fifty years.

James Bondage had marked an interesting trail through residential areas showcasing magnificent Queenslanders, including light industrial areas containing interesting small businesses.

Potluck featured some tasty dishes including a Winter favourite - soup. We do have some wonderful cooks in the group.

Next Sunday we are leaving the city and venturing into the countryside. Haughty and Culture are our hares and caterers.

Some news from Floater and Scratchit. They didn't find Brisbane cold enough, so off they went to Cradle Mountain. Below are some of their photos and shots from last Sunday:

Next weeks run/walk details

When: Sunday 10th July, 4 pm

Where: Andy Williams Park, Cedar Creek and afterwards back to their place. A map!
