Bloomin' hot

Where did Winter go? It was hot going on the trail last Sunday. However it didn't affect Le W*nk's athletic performance. He sprinted to the finish line like a startled chook.

On the trail there was a contingent of recalcitrants who inadvertently took a short cut. However, they weren't referred to the judiciary, as the act was unintentional.

After admiring the garden blooms, Banger and Make An Offer provided us with a wonderful spicy chicken main meal topped off with an appealing apple crumble. We are spoilt!

Here are some photos taken by Saucy Sous:

Saucy salsa

Another pleasant Sunday saunter from Walton Bridge. No, it wasn't named after Leave Pass, unless he was around in 1900.

Although there were runners at the gathering, they had no inclination to run, due to various ailments. Instead, they lowered themselves and mingled with the walkers.

The hares provided a sumptuous Mexican themed feast. As we lined up to begin our feeding frenzy, Miss Demeanour displayed her dancing skills with a saucy little salsa.

Here are some photos taken by Leave Pass and Cashconverta

Another riparian ramble

Our original hares were not the only ones to call in sick this week, so there were only 13 hardy and healthy souls who turned up at Undambi Reserve for a pleasant stroll along the South Pine, and for the usual Potluck banquet. Leave Pass entertained with another of his charades....

Here are some photos of the event, courtesy of Cash Converta:

Looking well ahead, Superhacker will be in town in October and is already planning one of her UQ jacaranda trails. It will be great to re-live one of these - we've missed them over the last couple of years.

And now here are a couple of tales from the Emerald Isle for your enjoyment.

Paddy is up before the bench, charged with taking a barrel of Guinness from round the back of the pub. After hearing the case the magistrate comes to her decision: "Case dismissed - insufficient evidence."

"Please, Your Honour," Paddy asks, "what does 'insufficient evidence' mean?"

"It means you are free to go."

"And can I keep the grog?"

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the same town, the Mother Superior is talking to some convent girls about their plans for the future.

"Mary Kelly," she asks one thirteen year-old, "what do you want to be when you grow up?"

"I'd like to be a prostitute," comes the answer.

The Mother Superior faints dead away. Nuns come running with the smelling salts, and after a glass of water the Mother Superior recovers enough to continue.

"I'm sorry, my child," she says, "I think I must have misheard you. What did you say you wanted to be?"

"A prostitute."

"Oh, thank heavens for that! For a moment I thought you said you wanted to be a Protestant!"

Rocking on down the creek

About 200 metres along last Sunday's trail hashers had to negotiate a rocky causeway across the creek. As far as we know, there were no mishaps, and only the canines got their feet wet....Beyond lay a pleasant Sunday afternoon stroll, much of it between the Cedar Creek platypus pools and some pricey equestrian infrastructure. The most venturesome among the walkers did a full 5 km out and back, while the runners (and 3 canines) completed a loop back by another route.

Once everyone was home and accounted for we headed up the road to the hares' place to wet our whistles and stuff our faces and warm ourselves before a wood fire.

Here are some of Saucy Sous', Make an Offer's, and Cash Converta's pics from the occasion:
