The name "Keperra" derives from the initiation ceremonies that used to take place at the bora ring now buried beneath the Keperra Golf Course and some adjacent houses. Samford Road at Keperra roughly follows an ancient route that led on to the Samford bora ring in Wights Mountain. So in walking the streets of this suburb one is traversing some very old trails that led along Kedron Brook and its tributaries - even though some of these little creeks have now been turned into drains....
This week's walking trail took the form of a figure eight around one of these tributaries, and took in some of the older and newer architecture of the area as well. The runners added a loop that ventured into the Keperra Bushland reserve, but they didn't attempt the climb to the summit they've done in the past...they're not getting old, are they?

Our virgin hares were Kermit and her sister Lil, who produced the most magnificent Chinese-themed banquet. It was high time for the latter to receive a Hash name, since despite her years of hashing in Hong Kong she had never been awarded one (...or could it be that she has never been awarded one that she would admit to?). The choice was obvious, and we were very pleased to bestow on her the moniker "Sweet and sour"! Here she is, taking part in the traditional naming ceremony - congratulations and thanks!

Our hares had recruited some help in the kitchen from their house guests and from their mum, who produced some triffic apple crumble! Here are some of the catering crew with our hares - many thanks for all your efforts! What a high standard of fare they set! (We'll be back to earth next week, I suspect....)
Finally, we now have another septuagenarian in our midst - and here is Budgie with a conflagration topping his birthday cake. Welcome to your new decade, sir!
