Scrambling up a scree slope

It was a choice between paddling (in mud) and scrambling up a scree slope, and our hare Leave Pass chose the latter for our latest excursion around Upper Kedron. It had rained a bit on the two preceding days, but - on this occasion - his timing for setting the trail was impeccable and we found plenty of arrows and plenty of flour as well. Golly - the development around this area has to be seen to be believed! Remember when there was just a little enclave of houses surrounded by farmland?

A small but select group gathered back at the hare's to replenish our precious bodily fluids, sample some of his famous Rogan Josh, and conduct a serious and well-informed discussion probing the issues of the day (ahem!) Le W*nk seemed strangely unaware that the Wallabies had had a win the evening before.... Many thanks, Leave Pass.

Our WA travellers have been doing a lot of walking in the National Park at Kalbarri, and taking lots of shots of rock formations and wildflowers. This select collection of photos includes one of the Murchison River, one of a Nankeen kestrel they befriended and one of a 3m king brown snake they left well alone....

Dayboro Dad's Day

Our hares took us on a Fathers' Day excursion which was as flat as Dayboro runs usually are (i.e. not flat at all) and as scenic (i.e. very scenic.) There were some great 360-degree views from the high ridges for those who had enough oxygen in their lungs to be able to look round. Back at the hares' we feasted on hotpot and salad, followed by dessert! Our Dayboro dad had been experimenting, baking pastries that looked and tasted exactly like Sara Lee ones - with a great deal of success! Many thanks, hares!

The quote of the week was provided by Le W*nk's son, on a visit from Dunedin: "How do they get up this drive when it snows?"

Fathers' Day is of course marked by the passing on of the Tight Jocks Award to our Dad of the Year. This year's worthy recipient was Molly's caring dad (and novice drone pilot) Mile High:

It's his responsibility now to take care of that prestigious item - the Tight Jocks - to add adornments to its display of the Family Jewels, and to make sure that it never sees the inside of a washing machine. Congrats to our brand new Dad of the Year!

The other brand new things on the hash were Le W*nk's shining and blindingly blue new shoes. No need for a flash to illuminate these pics of the traditional ceremony:

And we held another quaint ceremony to bestow names on a couple who have been joining us on Sunday afternoons for the last several weeks. Welcome to Miss Behavin' and Budgie!

Finally, discussions during the circle fixed on some of the details for this year's Hash Christmas event. It will be held on Friday 2nd December at Mile High and Hugandkiss's renovated mansion - and the theme will be "Lawrence of Arabia". You can bring your own "Pillow of Wisdom" if you like.
