The average marriage in Australia lasts 12.1 years. So Samford Hash stalwarts and cradle-snatchers Charcoal and Strine - who tied the knot 50 years ago - are doing incredibly well....In fact they've been members of Samford Hash for more than half of that half-century, proving that those who hash together stay together (or something of that sort.)
They celebrated the occasion this last Sunday by taking us on a typically flat and level Clear Mountain run/walk before treating us to starters, pasta and some celebratory pavlovas back at the old homestead. Here they are, sharing a champagne down, down and wearing some ancient Samford Hash shirts:
Many thanks, hares - for this and for many, many other runs over the years! And also for all the other Hash activities that you have initiated, facilitated and organised! Our heartfelt congratulations - and we wish you many, many more anniversaries!
We also took the opportunity this Sunday to name someone who has attended a number of hashes over the last few years. Welcome, Fizzer! She had no difficulty down, downing her favourite tipple. She gets in plenty of practice every Saturday night....
Finally, the Samford Fun Run (in aid of the Samford Support Network) will be held on Sunday 10th September this year, starting at John Scott Park. There are 10k and 5k courses. Note that registration costs $12 till the 12th August, but then goes to $20. Register at https://www.samfordfunrun.com/
