Bracing

It's always good to explore a new area, and this Sunday was almost certainly the first time we've hashed from Dohle's Rocks. As the ruffled hair and ruffled water indicate, the breeze was brisk and bracing as people gathered on the foreshore in the late afternoon sunlight:

It's a deservedly popular spot, and some new housing has sprung up along the water near the Osprey House ecological study centre. This would have deprived some of the original six-legged inhabitants of their usual tucker, and they are probably itching to get their mandibles into some house frames and restore some ecological balance:

Here are some of Snappy's shot from the walk - thanks to her!

We headed back to the shelter of the hares' place afterwards for a drink or two and a plentiful and varied meal that fully accommodated vegetarians and carnivores alike. It also featured (in a collaboration between Donna Hay and Budgie) some excellent brownies! Many thanks to our hares for introducing us to a new venue and for their hospitality....

Thursday morning saw hashers following up on last week's ANZAC run by attending various ANZAC Day services - at

Jolly's Lookout

Samford

Lutwych

and Dayboro

We're back on the shores of the Pacific next week, as we head up to Caloundra for a run and walk hosted by Magaphone and Fizza. Don't forget the special one-off start time of 3 pm!

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 5th May, 3 pm - note, 3 pm.

April showers

As Al Jolson remarked, "Though April showers may come your way...that's no reason for not hashing." Or as Chaucer put it:

"Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote,

The droghte of March hath perced to the roote...

[blah blah]...

Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages

Around Mitchelton...."

In fact, though the trail had been washed out, both walkers and runners remained dry (except for the odd drop of sweat) as they toured Mitchie. Upstanding led the walkers and the runners picked their own path up into the hills. Back at the renovated club the usual fare awaited - and there was ice-cream cake to spare, along with coffee for the birthday boys and girls. It was a good way to start the week of ANZAC Day. Thanks to Upstanding and Idle Vice for making the arrangements.

Here are Cash Converta's shots of us trying to look respectable in the RSL:

Finally, a reminder that our Labour Day run on the 5th of May will be at Caloundra, starting at the special time of 3 pm so we can get home before the bogeyman comes out.

Next run/walk details

When: Sunday 28th April at 4 pm

Where: Dohle's Rocks Foreshore Park. A map!

Hares: Budgie and Miss Behavin' and Co.

MIA

This week Payback revived memories of an incident some years ago when he went missing at the Taj Mahal. While the rest of us searched for him through the precinct and the staff tried to get us out of the gate so they could lock up, he was touring Agra in a motorcycle taxi. It was good to see him again. This Sunday he decided to go on from the end of the Ferny Grove - Samford bike track, presumably in search of a motorcycle taxi....He didn't find one and instead completed a big circuit around Camp Mountain Road while others searched for him. It was good to see him again, again.

What a beautiful afternoon it was for a walk (or a jog) in the woods! - as the photos that follow illustrate. Thanks to Snappy for these shots.

The gathering at Wahminda:

The walk:

Someone counted 29 of us crammed in and around the shelter on our return (was that before or after Payback turned up?) to replenish our precious bodily fluids and to share Miss Demeanour's soup and tasty chicken curry. Many thanks to our hares!

Some Young Ones:

Make an Offer was just about to celebrate a Big Birthday and Saucy Sous had organised a Big Bouquet for her. Many happy returns!

The birthday girl and Payback (MIA) shared a down, down:

Unfortunately Eweshggr had left before he could be awarded one for his hat:

Finally, an early notice re our Labour Day run on 5th May: This will be in Caloundra, and as a one-off will start at 3 pm.
