Shiily? Shally? Shilly? - Nah, Shally!

As it turned out, the Brisbane lockdown ended on Saturday evening and wasn't re-imposed, but by that time our hares were thoroughly spooked at the idea of having to consume all that slow-cooked food by themselves....So we (finally) opted to err on the side of caution, postpone the Grand Renovation Tour, and commemorate 2020 by acting as if we were still locked down. All, that is, except for Bigtop and Co., who don't read emails and turned up for a private viewing before enjoying the views over Sandgate Pier:

So where did others go on Household Hashing expeditions?

Shaggy and Cadbury took some great shots at Bunyaville, which is looking uncharacteristically green and lush:

Payback, Cash Converta and Footsie were at Albany Creek with a frightening animal:

Redbreast and Jamesbondage were at Wightman Reserve:

...while Le W*nk, Lax and Prattle undertook a 7 km route along the seaside:

And Escargot and Snappy took the opportunity to recce next Sunday's trail:

Meanwhile, here is the route undertaken by Superhacker and Leave Pass:

The reason it looks as it does is best explained in her own words:

"The much reduced Mitchelton chapter of SH3 (Superhacker and Leave Pass) took a stroll out through Teralba Park.

They made a late start because Superhacker's phone GPS was set to bike (chiz chiz), and kept asking her to drive along the Kedron Brook bikeway.

When the walk was over, it was time to find Superhacker's car. They practiced bickering like an old married couple whilst Superhacker tried to remember the name of the street she parked her car and Leavepass just drove madly around Everton Park doing handbrake turns and doughnuts and reliving his youth on the mean streets of Burmantofts, Leeds.

Anyway, needless to say, Superhacker got a DownDown at the OnOn in a shelter near the Scout hut that she has managed to navigate to many times.

Attached is their route - walking in pale blue, getting lost in dark blue. I think you'll agree it is rather Dali-esque (Square headed woman with flyaway headscarf)."

At this stage case numbers are looking good and we're all set to head up the mountain next Sunday. Our hares stress that the OnOn will be outdoors, so come prepared to wrap up well. Bring a chair. And also bring a torch - darkness can fall quickly in the bush!

Next run/walk details

Grounded - and up in the air

At time of writing, Brisbane residents were just about to be grounded in a 3-day lockdown, which - provided it's not extended - will end on Friday. At this stage we're still hopeful that we'll be able to meet as a group of 30 next Sunday....But who knows - keep checking your emails!

This last Sunday's trail took us on an easy jaunt around the back blocks of the village. We were joined by two visitors who have done a lot of their hash running in Lusaka, Zambia - namely Sister Sludge and Titus (he assures us that this is how his name is spelt; she says it's an appropriate name, no matter how it's spelt.) They had to leave before the circle, but it was great to meet them and we look forward to seeing them again.

Here are some friends that Mile High and Hugandkiss made on the trail:

And here are a few of Snappy's candid shots of hashers back home at John Scott Park:

Haughty was literally grounded when he turned his ankle and measured his length along the bitumen, springing leaks from various parts of his anatomy. It's lucky he doesn't run very fast, or he really could have caused some damage. Here's a reminder of the sorts of things that happen to hashers - a picture from 2014:

And you'll find links to whole galleries of more gruesome shots here!

Next run details

[As noted above, we're still up in the air about what will be happening next weekend - but here's the plan at the moment. Keep checking emails for the latest....]

When: Sunday 4th July (something familiar about that date, isn't there?) at 4 pm

Where: Le W*nk and Lax's Mitchelton mansion. Note - We're limited to 30 people in the house - check emails for sign on details, or email us.

Hares: Lax and Le W*nk

Please bring a chair - and bring a mask!

On, on!
