Them thar hills

There were about 32 humans (taking the word in its widest possible sense) and plenty of canines on this Sunday's outing. The walkers completed a hilly circuit which included the Sewer Trail (actually, I think that name has been changed recently) while the runners revisited a little gold mine that some of us last found in 2013. Here are a couple of shots taken 4 years ago (there had been some rockfalls since then):

Potluck, as usual, provided a substantial and varied feast. One dish was entirely sourced from Floater's garden, which had just won the "Edible" category in the Hills Garden Competition. Here she is, enjoying a celebratory down, down:

Other notable happenings this week:
- We welcomed Footsie back from her trip tracking mountain gorillas in Africa. She had some remarkable close encounters and remains hopeful that she will spot a comparable silverback around Samford;
- We farewelled Mile High and Hugandkiss who are heading off to walk the Camino;
- We congratulated Shockjock on his bronze medal at the State Homebrew Championships;
- We enjoyed Malpractice's rendition of his traditional ditty about the little doggies' party;
- We wished Epic the best for his wedding in Bangkok in 6 days time. It seems that he and his wife were married in New Zealand in April, but this doesn't count...the Thai ceremony will be the real thing, with 268 of his closest friends as guests:

We also received a message from Where's the Beef? in Japan this week, in response to last week's blog post. I quote: "Never heard of a Cambridge in England. Is it a new town? We just co-hared the Sumo Hashathon this past Sunday in Karnataka. In Your Dreams manned a beer stop and then ran the last leg in. All good hash fun."

It's still a bit early to change over to a summertime 5 pm start. We generally do this mid to late October, and sometimes even leave it till our Halloween Run. We'll make a decision in the circle in the next couple of weeks.
