Shorncliffe seaside sojourn

It was a bright sunny day at Shorncliffe on Sunday. Perhaps this is why half of Brisbane was entrenched on the foreshore. Eventually, we found a spot under an old fig tree and set up camp.

The trail took us past some beautiful old Queenslanders and a few original fibro shacks. The foreshore segment was particularly delightful. We even traversed the length of the old pier which seemed to contain the other half of Brisbane. There were a lot anglers there hoping for a big catch, but the fish had other ideas.

Back at the On, On, our hares provided a hearty spread which catered for every taste. Thanks for your efforts Miss Behavin' and Budgie.

Here are a few photos taken by Cashconverta, Make an Offer, Banger and Skippy

And here are some snaps from Redbreast and James Bondage who are up in the the Kimberley area (did anyone notice them missing?):

Giro d'Samford

Walkers and runners alike reveled in a bit of sunshine on a beaut afternoon excursion around our home turf. Banger took this shot of a couple of runners in the foreground, with another (see Banger's caption) having a breather in the background....There's always something new to note in the village, isn't there?

Dumbbell was especially pleased with the way his knee is behaving. The foot-long scar has healed perfectly, and the joint is performing better than it has since Interhash last year. It's no longer swelling up after exercise - hurrah!

Back home in the centre of the village, our hare Honkers served up a multi-course feast, with a hearty soup followed up by two different salads, chicken and vege dishes, and then some scrumptious dessert slices. Le W*nk announced that she is welcome to host another hash any time she wants - hear, hear to that! And many, many thanks!

Here's another runners' pic from Banger, and a number of images from the on, on, courtesy of Cash Converta:

A number of hashers are involved in some way or other in the latest SPADEwerx production -  on-stage, behind the scenes, or at front-of-house. Tickets are now on sale, and can be bought over the phone at 3289 5241. Meet up with other hashers, bring along your family and friends...we guarantee that you'll enjoy it!

Mother's Day

A small contingent of eleven, plus Gunther, ended up in Samford Village on Mother's Day. The rain held off, which resulted in a pleasant stroll around Samford (or an arduous one for the runners).

Food was a combination of potluck and takeaway from local establishments. To top it off, Cashconverta spent all day baking on Sunday (supervised by Payback) and provided us with some scrumptious chocolate malteser cup cakes.

Note: Le Wank, next Sunday please bring along the chocolates you left in the fridge. Budgie, your umbrella is in safe hands. And, the jokes weren't really up to standard - we must improve!

Here are some shots taken by Cashconverta:

Why did the chicken?

There's no politics on the hash, but the runners couldn't help encountering some of the wash-up from the weekend election as they ran past the former opposition leader's house. A bored and listless TV crew was staking it out, and for want of better things to do, filmed the boys jogging by. Three of the walkers drove down later to have a butcher's, and were also filmed. At least the crew would have gone home with some footage, but it was perhaps not interesting enough to make the evening news - which is not to say the Samford Hash isn't really, really interesting in general....

Some runners at the critical spot (pics by Banger):

Both walkers and runners tackled typically flaaaat Dayboro routes, with an avian encounter along the way:

Back at the hares' we enjoyed some beaut chili and rice, followed by two types of crumble - yum! Many thanks to Banger and Make an Offer!
