Did it ever strike you as odd that it's the roughest, toughest, butchiest sorts of blokes who identify themselves most aggressively with the Land of Queens? ("Queenslander!!!") Anyway, queens of the desert, the burbs, and the city heart - all the queens of Queensland - celebrated the monarch's birthday this last weekend. Republicans don't stand a chance while she provides an annual public holiday.
A combination of the long weekend and footy finals meant that we counted only 20 of us at Fizza's virgin run, but those who came were rewarded with an excursion up and down and around a section of Kedron Brook that we haven't visited for quite a while. For the runners at least it brought back memories of the time that Le W*nk set a run up the stinking and polluted centre of the creek bed....
We welcomed Caboose, on a flying visit from the UK ("flying" only figuratively - he's traveling the globe over its surface, mostly by train.) His original home hash is the Jacaranda Hash in Pretoria; we assured him that Brisbane jacarandas usually put on a much better show than the one they're managing at the moment.
Caboose (visitor) and Fizza (virgin hare) shared a down, down:
Elsewhere in the world, Mile High and Hugandkiss have been exploring the capital of Iceland (which we won't try to spell.) A sail among the icebergs, anyone?
