The festivities were launched (literally) on Saturday afternoon when a number of us took to the pristine waters of the Brisbane River for a casual paddle downstream. No need to ask who fell in - or who helped him fall....
And then on Sunday Charcoal and Strine hosted our 2014 Australia Day run through the back blocks of Clear Mountain. The run/walk was followed by the Hash Olympics - featuring such traditional sports as thong-throwing (we're referring to footwear, of course), chucking the passionfruit, and vegemite map-making, as well as a head-scratching quiz.
For those wanting to come to Australia, a criminal record is not an advantage nowadays; a few years ago, it was compulsory....Should we have been allowed into the country? Some of us were not very good at answering the standard Immigration Test questions - even if we did know Donald Bradman's batting average! (What was it again?)
Here's the questionable group (thanks to Topless for the photography, and to Photoshop for the addition of two laggards - can you pick them?):
And here are a few keen contestants:
(There'll be more pics to come in future posts, I'm sure.)
