Bearing up

The runners headed up the hill to meet up once more with the Ironbark Bears...

...while the walkers explored the uppermost reaches of Kedron Brook, where the tracks were still showing some damage from recent flooding. It had begun to rain as the trail was set, but not enough to wash the chalk and flour away, and, almost unbelievably, no-one got lost.

Our hares, who had been away for several weeks in Illyria (the setting for Twelfth Night) were welcomed back by those who could still remember who they were. We have sometimes been colder and wetter in Ironbark Gully (but not much) and we hope that no-one went hungry.

Next week we have a chance to view Lax and Le W*nk's Grand Renovation. The house rules include: No shoes inside, and No touching of The Tree. But remember the old Hash saying - "Rule no. 1 - there are no rules; Rule no. 2 - see Rule no. 1"....

John Scott

We've been seeing a lot of John Scott Park lately, but did you ever wonder who John Scott was? Well, here is your answer:

"The park was named after John Nicol Scott who lived at Camp Mountain where he operated the well-known and successful Auchen Eden Ayrshire stud. He served as a councillor on the Pine Rivers Shire Council from 29 April 1961 until 4 April 1970."

Eleven hashers made it on Sunday. After the walk, they trotted off to the Samford Pub to rehydrate and sample some the huge meals.

Home ground

Another beautiful Sunday afternoon at our home ground in Samford Village. The walkers cruised around the usual circuit with some taking a short cut. Nothing wrong with shortcuts. Banger was not so lonely this week, as he had the company of the delightful duo, Le W*nk and Shockjock

Again, potluck provided a splendiferous spread of sumptuous food. Thanks everyone!

Sunshine and sadness

The sun was shining and the V-Dub was gleaming as we set off for a tour of Wilston and surrounds. The trail took us past grand houses, over a rickety rail overpass, down to the Kedron Brook and finally through Wilston Village, where latte lovers abounded.

Idle Vice, ably assisted by Upstanding provided us with an array of pasta dishes which went down very well. Many went back for seconds.

In loving memory of a faithful friend

Sad news. Hash dog George passed away last week. George was a beautiful dog who delighted us with his endless energy and friendliness. Our thoughts are with Le Wank and family.
