Weekend escapes and escapades

This last weekend saw 13 Hash Femmes abandon their professional and domestic duties and escape to the Sunny Coast, while some of the left-behind male Spares betook themselves to Toowoomba (others moped at home). As a result we had Samford Hash representatives at both the Mudjimba Beach and Toowoomba parkruns on Saturday morning; and Samford Hashers summited at both Mt. Coolum and Table Top Mountain on the same weekend. But while the Hash Femmes stirred up some interest at the Mooloolaba Surf Club, the equivalent didn't happen at the Toowoomba Federal Hotel...strange, that. It's clear that both groups had a great weekend, full of fun activities, and that both groups kept themselves well hydrated - with fizz on the beach and ale on the mountain.

What happens on tour stays on tour...but here are a few pictures for the record, especially for those whose memories are a bit befuddled or have been suppressed. First, from up the coast:

And now a few from Toowoomba:

A big weekend...and this meant that only 5 turned up at John Scott Park on Sunday for a stroll around the circuit. They formed a Hash pentagon afterwards rather than a Hash circle. Wholly understandable.

Don't forget - we move to a 5 pm start time from next week!

Next run/walk details
When: Sunday 3rd November at 5 pm - repeat, 5 pm!
Where: Arana Hills Library, Cobbity Crescent, Arana Hills. A map!
Hares: Floater and Scratchit

Please bring chairs.

Mangroves and mansions

There are bits of the Pine that probably still look as they did when Oxley first came up the river. There are other bits that now sport multi-million-dollar mansions. And our exceptionally well-marked, interesting and enjoyable trail this Sunday took us past both of them, on a lovely afternoon for both running and walking.

Here's the group gathering, and paying particular attention to the injunction "Don't touch the Jag!"

And here are some shots of the scenery on the walk, courtesy of Snappy and Cash Converta:

Back home we enjoyed a varied and filling feast of Thai chicken curry, sausage stew, rice, potato bake, salad, and spinach and fetta pastries...followed up by Malteser slice and ice-cream! Wow! Many thanks to our hares for an excellent trail and a magnificent meal!

Two blokes who have been coming along for a while were presented with some Samford Hash shirts:

Looking well ahead...our hosts for this year's Hash Christmas Party have decided to alter the theme - it will now be "Heroes (heroines) and villains". Plenty of scope here for your imaginations to work on! The date again: 7th December.

Next weekend some Hash Femmes are headed up the Sunshine Coast, while some of the left-behind spares are heading somewhere else. There will be a casual M. Promptu/Potluck meet in Samford for those who can make it on Sunday - and this will be the last time this year that we meet at 4 pm! Details below.

It looks as though Samford hashers will be sporting some exciting new costumes at this year's Red Dress Run - and Banger will be looking especially fetching.... Here's another copy of the flyer:

Next run/walk details
When: Sunday 27th October, 4 pm (last of the 4 pm starts)
Where: John Scott Park, Samford Village
Hares: M. Promptu will set the trail. Potluck (or a local hostelry) will cater. Bring (or buy) food, and bring drinks (Hash drinks will not be available).
