Cloud studies

With a number of our regulars still away, it was once again a pretty small group of 13 who met at John Scott Park this last Sunday. But what we lacked in numbers was made up for by the quality of the catering. "It's a pity", said Le W*nk, "that we don't have any good cooks in Hash." He was being ironic, of course - Potluck supplied us with a wonderfully varied and tasty feast to follow on from a trot around the familiar Samford circuit. Thanks as usual to all for their contributions!

Here are some of Snappy's shots from the occasion, including the cloud studies she took on the walk!

In NSW, our Hash caravaners continued their wanderings. They were joined for a night in Red Rock by a couple of other unemployed people:

And they enjoyed a seaside hash walk on Sunday at Brunswick Heads:

Meanwhile...elsewhere in the world, Floater and Scratchit continue their extensive journeys in the Iberian peninsula. Over the last several weeks, we've felt completely daunted by the challenge of selecting pictures from her highly scenic posts to feature on this blog. Far better to go to the source - and many of us have been doing just that. But, belatedly, here are just a few chosen out of her latest images from Moorish southern Spain:

And finally, here's a report from Mile High and Hugandkiss in California: "We had a wonderful time with Jillian and Steve and we are now travelling around. We went to iconic Yosemite National Park....Highlight was camping on the bank of the Merced River which flows through Yosemite Valley. We fell asleep to the sound of a waterfall and rapids and woke to the sun glistening on the water. A great time to experience Yosemite as the falls are fully powered by the Spring melt and the new blooms and foliage weave magic colour into the landscape. 🤩🤩PS we didn't manage to see Yogi bear and boo boo but saw a coyote and a bobcat."

Home and away (again)

With some of our regulars away in NSW, and others away in Spain and the US, it was a relatively small group of 13 of us who gathered in the very welcome afternoon sunlight at Undambi. The walkers headed along the creek in one direction, while 3 runners and a dog headed off in the other - and encountered some pretty overgrown territory. It might take Pablo a while to get all the weed seeds out of his coat....

As usual, Potluck served up a tasty and varied feast. Thanks to all for your contributions! And thanks to Leave Pass, Dumbbell and Upstanding for the jokes!

Here are some of Snappy's shots of the gathering:

Meanwhile, from Cash Converta in NSW, here's a photo of sunset at Nambucca Heads:

Some mothers do 'ave 'em

Many mothers and others have family duties to attend to on Mothers' Day each year, either giving or receiving chrysanthemums, chocolates, perfume and dinners - so it's only the undutiful who turn up to Hash (and, yes, some mothers do 'ave 'em). This year there were just 17 or 18 waifs, strays and sad-acts who turned up at the Farmers' Hall on Sunday for a stroll through the valley and some consolatory drinks and eats. But we had a good time.

A number of our regulars will be away over the next few weeks on a caravanning jaunt...and we also bade farewell to Mile High and Hugandkiss, who are heading off to San Francisco with flowers in their hair....

The route was one we haven't been on recently, and we aroused some interest from the local dogs, geese and other backyard fauna en route:

Here are some more of Snappy's shots from the occasion (thanks again to her).

The onon - back in the centre of the village:

Meanwhile, in the UK, mother and daughter Superhacker and Hopalong were among a bunch of Beautiful People snapped at Firle Place in East Sussex - and aren't they the most beautiful of the lot? Superhacker writes that her only regret was that she couldn't persuade the Bishop of Rochester's son to marry her. You may remember that Jane Austen's Emma, who was depicted in the 2020 production at the same location, was also unsuccessful in her matrimonial schemes....

I do like to be beside the seaside

[This week's run report is brought to you by Payback - thanks to him!]

"It was a great afternoon beside the placid waters of Pumicestone Passage. There were lots of hungry pelicans jostling around the fish cleaning table and lots of mosquitoes jostling around the hashers, eager for a feast.

Surprisingly, the rain did not eventuate and the hashers enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the esplanade. Some had planned to take a short diversion along the route to search for ice creams. Alas, there were none to be found. However, another search was planned on the way home.

Thanks to our Caloundra contingent (Fizzer and Megaphone) for providing the feast and to the hashers who made the trek."

And thanks to Cash Converta and Saucy Sous for the following pics!
